The acronym, ACTS means Adonai Christian Theological Seminary. The ministry of ACTS is open to believers, whether studying for full-time ministry or part-time. ACTS caters for all believer-students no matter their denominational beliefs. Nothing clearly reveals the divine commission of the college as the premier graduation that came to hold within the first one year of its inception.
In the premier graduation, the successful graduates who were 17 showed a cross-section of various denominations, class of people and Nigerian tribes. We had a Roman Catholic brother among the graduating ones as well as mainline Protestant Churches (e.g. Anglican) members, Pentecostal Churches (most of who were independent / new breed Churches), and white garment church (Cherubim and Seraphim). The three major tribes in Nigeria were represented namely: Ibo, Yoruba and Hausa. Some graduates had enrolled for full-time ministry while others studied for part-time. Amongst the part-timers were either church workers or simply lovers of the Lord. Those serving the nation with one year after studying in secular higher institution (National Youth Service Corps, Nigeria) also registered either as part-timers or trained for future career in ministries. The whole scene of the first graduation was charged with the presence of the Lord and the guests, all agreed that God was set to transcend denominational, cultural and status barriers with the commission he has given to the ministry of ACTS. As was in its first graduation, so in subsequent ones. God continued to cause His purpose of founding the college to bear fruits through training believer-students to continue to go even “weeping” but consistently bearing “precious seeds” of God’s word to our generation. We do not fight the testimony of how God graciously filled a student from the white garment church with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with new tongues as he researched and wrote assignments on the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit (Pneumatology) with the other students.
It is to be noted that whatever the old students of ACTS are, as church workers, or senior pastors or in the secular duty-post or plain business company, they have distinguished themselves as they take their bold stand in matters of principle for the Lord. In this way, many have asked and finally enrolled to be trained in ACTS. While others have come into saving knowledge of our Lord, many have become more dedicated to the service of God in various churches as they observe the manner of life of the students and ex-students. The popular slogan in ACTS which is that God rewards faithfulness not title is seen not only in the lives of the students but also the lecturers.
Over the years, the ministry of ACTS has carried on missionary study centers in many eastern states of Nigeria. As time went on following missionary affiliation with Texas Institute of Biblical Studies (Missionary Foundation) which also doubles as International Liason Office for ACTS, the ministry of ACTS started a missionarystudy center in the Prisons (Nigerian Prison Owerri). The result that has followed the missions has remained outstanding.
Also in the prison are ministrations with the inmates which involve breaking of bread (once every month), teachings, baptism etc. Well over 100 gave their lives to Jesus as Savior and Lord. Also about 40 inmates were graciously filled with the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues and transformed lives. After undergoing our training and ministrations, more than 24 inmates (students) who have been detained for over 7 years without trial suddenly got tried, discharged and acquitted. Others were granted bail. The results of these amongst the prison inmatesis tremendous as both the student member (inmates) and the paroled ones have continued to be seen worthy ambassadors of the kingdom.
What started as a burden in my heart to train people to observe and to do all that have been commanded by the Master gradually metamorphosed to a full-fledge bible school that is destined to affect people for life and eternity.
Starting with the name, All Christian Theological Seminary, Nigeria, the Corporate Affairs Commision Nigeria incorporated it as Adonai Christian Theological Seminary. ACTS maintains an affiliation with Texas Institute of Biblical Studies (Missionary Foundation) based in Gladwater Tx U.S.A.
ACTS has through the charismatic mentorship of Dr. Billy Teague (who doubles as Senior Pastor of New Life Church & TIBS Gladwater U.S.A) received materials and spiritual assistance that have helped bring the vision this far.
Assisted by the missionary affiliation with Texas Institute of Biblical Studies (Missionary Foundation), the registration of ACTS with Corporate Affairs Abuja Nigeria, Supervision of Transworld Accrediting Commission, Ark U.S.A and spirit filled faculty, the school at its early days determined to train every student member to become worthy ambassador of the kingdom of God.
